A Letter from David Simon

Dear Beloved Extended Chopra Family:

I and my personal family ― Pam, Max, Sara, and Isabel ― would like to express our profound gratitude for the love and support you have been infusing into us. Despite the turbulence and uncertainty this challenge has swept us into, I feel deeply established in a state of peace and acceptance that life, as always, is unfolding perfectly. I was out of the hospital within 48 hours and after a couple weeks of recuperation, anticipate beginning my medical treatments, which fortunately are generally benign.

Because my thinking, speech, and functioning are fine, I intend to stay fully involved in Chopra Center activities for the foreseeable future. I am speaking and meeting regularly with my core team, and we are confident that the programs, workshops, seminars, trainings, and certifications will continue without interruption. I intend to continue teaching and fulfilling my clinical and executive duties. I am particularly enthusiastic about seeing you at upcoming seminars where we can create our beautiful consciousness-expanding communities.

As I consider the meaning of this experience, I can only share with you that everything we have been exploring together on the journey into healing, transformation, and awakening seems more important and relevant than ever. I’m not accessing a whole new field of thoughts, but rather my past ideas have been taking on a deeper sense of authenticity. Healing is about returning to wholeness and I am experiencing an effortless flow into deeper connectivity with my family, friends, community, and nature. The peace that pervades the cells in my body and the thoughts in my mind is succulently luscious and supports a sense of appreciation for every moment.

I encourage you to share this reminder of the beautiful delicacy of life with me. Take a few minutes today to feel the sun on your face, wiggle your toes in the grass or inhale the fragrance of a summer flower. Tell someone in your life that you love them unconditionally. Take a few moments to do something creative that brings you a wave of joy. Prepare yourself a delicious colorful meal, and savor it. Struggle less today and celebrate more.

I look forward to seeing and speaking with many of you soon. Although I have not yet been able to personally respond to the thousands of love-filled notes from around the world, know that my family and I feel and cherish your support.

In love,
David

Well, the sunshine has finally disappeared, and the all too familiar rainy grey skies are very much back! I love these days, being drenched in rain and hugged by the clouds! I think you would love Scotland just now; sometimes I think it’s at its best when it’s like this – so beautiful, and peaceful, and inspirational. Just like you. Love to you today, dear David x

Today, dear one, Wednesday, I want to share with you an exchange between myself and my younger niece, Poppy, aged six, that happened over the weekend. We were playing, and she caught me in a moment of sadness; ‘Why are you crying, Auntie Carole?’, she asked; I told her I was just a bit sad because someone very dear to me is sick; ‘But, Auntie Carole, don’t be sad,’ she said, ‘He’s going to be fine. I know he will be. I’m looking after him, didn’t you know that?’ That precious wee soul, who I know has been here many many times before – it was like she just magicked all the tears away and turned them into laughter. How could I not smile at that? And, of course, she’s right – Poppy’s a child of nature, and a child of God, as are we all; and, to that end, we are all watching over you, looking after you, and collectively meditating with you, praying for you, all of us tiny specks in this incredible universe we are privileged to be incarnated into. Enjoy this wonderful, beautiful day with your family around you.
Much love, Carole and family.

David,

Last year when I was at SOS in Whistler I had found out that my brother had colon cancer. I was able to remain in a neutral state knowing that being there in meditation was the highest way I could serve him.

When I read your beautiful letter telling us of your surgery, I felt the most exquisite pain. It stayed with me for days… I wondered what that feeling was.

I realized that as you immerse in the poetic offerings of your beloved Hafiz, I see you as the physical representation of that type of truth.

Unpretentious, fully open, generous and totally surrendered to the Divine. You are Hafiz.

I am relieved you are recovering at rapid speed. Just weeks ago my brother was declared cancer free.

I feel blessed… both of you – such incredible examples of humanity – are here to deliver your gifts for so many of us thirsting for that quench.

With Love,
Farhana

Dear David, Penelope (More) had written to you earlier on our behalf after you had been diagnosed.
I have been reading the postings of love for you (which I share deeply) and your letters. I also exchanged a few lines with Deepak and told him that we were sending healing thoughts and love.
I AM DELIGHTED AT YOUR PROGRESS!
You are an inspiration to many and I am following up on your suggestions in this letter. Indeed, each one of us should count our blessings, even in these seemingly difficult times.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Love always, to you and your family. We remember the Alaska Cruise so well!
Slim

Well, dear one, with today, Tuesday, representing the Law of Karma, God only knows that you have some serious love, happiness and success coming your way! I would like to tell you today that you are fast becoming something of a celebrity (you always were to us, your extended family, of course!) in Scotland, as news of this remarkable, gentle and beautiful soul and his extraordinary presence, and ability to live in the now, spills from the lips of those of us who know you, into the ears and lips and hearts of others, and the words disseminated in letters, emails, blogs, all reach out over the towns and cities, the hills, the lochs, across this beautiful land, with echoes coming back to me of ‘Who is this man? We LOVE him. Tell me more about him and what he teaches.’
Just in being YOU, you continue to inspire and reach out across the waters.
Love today, and always, Carole.
